St. Francis Xavier’s church, Kanakkanpatty is situated in the Talukof Thirupathur in Sivagangai District.Kanakkanpatty, previously asubstation of Thirupathurwas erected as an independent parish in 2007and was entrusted to the care of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales for a duration of 25 years.The first parish priest was Fr.A. Selvaraj.This parish has five substations, namely Karuppanpatty, Kuruvadipatty, Ammayendal, Keelachevalpatty and Mithilaipatty. Altogether there are 180 families. All the substations have churches except Keelachevalpatty. The Province bought 8 acres of land in 2008 in order to support the mission with different apostolates. The parish of Kanakkanpatty has a new church which was blessed and inaugurated on 08 August 2009. Later a grottoand a presbytery were constructed.The new Grotto was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. A. Lawrence, the provincial on 03 December 2009.The presbytery was blessed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Soosai Manickam, the Bishop of Sivagangai and was inaugurated by the Provincial. During the period of Fr. A. Selvaraj, the Women Self-help Groups were very active.

SinceWe the MSFS took up the parish we have been trying to increase the spiritual growth of the people, build the faith formation of the people by way of preaching, our sociable and friendly life with the people. We give witness to the people by living an authentic life and self-discipline. We are also interested in the community life and solidarity of the people. We try to build up fraternal communion with the people. We insist upon very much the Word of God and the Christian values to the people.
