St.Joseph’s Parish, Perungozhi was bifurcated from Ongur and was entrusted to the MSFSin 2001. Fr.M. Victor was appointed as the first parish priest. Earlier this church was under the care of the Jesuit Priests. The parish church was blessed on 11 January 1989 by MostRev.Dr.Casmir Gnanadikam. We have at present 135 families.The catholic population is around 500.They are socially and economically backward.
There are four substations in this parish, namely Kattiyapanthal, Nelvaay, Kunnavakkam and Alancherry. In one of the substations, we have no church. The primary school that belongs to this parishwas established in 1993. At present we have 58 students and two teachers. The Province has bought 80 cents of land.
