20th February, 2016 was a day of joy and jubilation for the two provinces – South-East and South-West, as they witnessed the great event of the Diaconate Ordination of seven brothers of which five were our Msfs confreres and two Benedictines. And among the five Msfs, two belong to our South-East Province, namely, Bro. S. Arockiam and Bro. M. Joseph Anish Kumar. All of them were ordained deacons by His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Michael Miranda, the Bishop of Gulbarga, Karnataka. In his homily, the Bishop very aptly stressed on the duties of a deacon and he exhorted all of them to be more vibrant in their future ministry.
The event was graced by more than 70 priests, and a good number of religious, relatives and friends. Fr. George Kootinal, the Rector of S.F.S. Minor Seminary, Pudukkottai, was the Provincial Delegate from our Province. The day was made more colourful by the graceful presence of Fr. A. Edward, the PCIC of Mission of our Province and more than 15 of our confreres from the communities of Provincialate, Alangayam, Vaniyambadi, and Minor Seminary and fathers studying in Dharmaram and I.I.S. The Eucharistic celebration was followed by a short felicitation for the newly ordained deacons and the celebration came to an end with a fellowship meal.
