Holy Trinity Church at Adanur is a village parish and is about 12 km west of Villupuram. Tradition says that the Catholics were settled down in this village in 1890s. For one hundred and eighteen years, it had been under the mission station of St.Francis Xavier´s church, Villupuram parish andunder the pastoral care of the priests in the Archdiocese Pondicherry. On 18 November 1998, it was bifurcated and was entrusted to the care of the Missionaries of St.Francis De Sales. Fr.S. Alexander was appointed as the first parish priest of Adanur. Initially he was staying in the sacristy as there was no presbytery. Later on, he built a presbytery, which was blessed by Most Rev. Dr. Michael Augustine, the Archbishop of Pondicherry and was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Mani Panthalani, the Provincial on 20 December 2000.
The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was blessed by Most Rev. Dr. Antony Anandarayar, the Archbishop of Pondicherry on 06 May 2006. It was executed by Fr. G. Sebastian, the parish priest. On 16 April 2009, Most Rev. Neethinathan, the bishop of Chingleputblessed the new bell tower. Fr. D. Johnson was the parish priest then. The people of this place are mixed socio cultural groups. Most of the houses are made of thatched roofs. There is no proper sanitation, roads and drainage system. A considerable percentage of young and small children go to schools and colleges. The Christians come under the category of backward community. And they are denied of governmental favors and loans. Therefore, during some emergencies like hospitalization or some functions, they are bound to borrow money from others for which the interest is too high. The food habits are very simple. Health and hygiene are not taken care of. Their common problem is lack of basic amenities to lead a dignified life.
