St Francis De Sales Matric Hr Sec School at Virudhunagar celebrated its Annual day on Saturday 27th January 2018 with pomp and gaiety. It was indeed a great evening for the management, staff and students. The district collector of Virudhunagar Mr. A. Sivagnanam IAS was the chief guest and Very Rev. Fr. K. Ignacimuthu, Msfs the Provincial Superior of South East India Province was the guest of honor. The presence of many Msfs confreres and the diocesan clergy and many of the religious sisters added joy and graciousness to the function. A large number of parents and teachers gathered in the school well on time to receive the guests. All the guests were accorded warm welcome and were led to the stage by the school band. The chief guest planted saplings in the school ground as a sign of creating “go green “consciousness in the school atmosphere. After the welcome song, the Principal gladly welcomed the chief guest and the guest of honor.
The chief guest in his address said that the school annual day is a platform for all the students to exhibit their talents and for the parents a time of observation and appreciation of their children. The Chief Guest was requested to honour the teachers, who served the institution in the past year without absenting themselves. Then the result of group activities was announced and Green group was declared as the winner of the year and the Yellow group was declared as runner up. Chief Guest addressed the gathering with his eloquence and he appreciated the school for its academic excellence and widespread chances offered to the students in the school. Proficiency certificates and prizes were distributed by the collector. He appreciated the school for its tremendous efforts for the children in his speech.
The guest of honour Rev. Fr. K. Ignacimuthu distributed the certificates and medals to the students, who attended the school without absenting themselves in the past year. In his speech, he reiterated the importance of discipline, other than the result and mark oriented examination. Rev. Fr. Michael, the correspondent proposed the vote of thanks. Thus the program ended with the national anthem at 08.45 PM.
