The parish of Pandian Nagar, bifurcated from Virudhunagar parish was entrusted to the pastoral care of MSFS in 2000 and Fr. J. Stephen was appointed as the first parish priest. In the initial stage, he had to stay in a rented house, as the new parish did not own a house for the priests. The parish has three substations. The main center is fast developing into a town. The parish has got 250 catholic families, of whom 25% are government employees. The rest of them are engaged in work in factories and other work places. Ever since the arrival of the MSFS, the parish has been steadily growing, catering to the pastoral and educational needs of the parish and the locality. Fr. J. Stephen laid a very strong foundation for the parish and school. He constructed a beautiful parish church, which was consecrated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Fernando, the Archbishop of Madurai and was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Mani Panthalani, the Provincialon 03 March 2003.The participation of the priest and the parishioners in this construction consists both in physical labour and financial assistance. Fr. J. Stephen also constructed a church in a substation. A grotto dedicated to Our Lady was completedby Fr. I. S. Jesuraj, with the great support of the parishioners. It was blessed by Rev. Fr. A.
